Classes:

All classes will be taught by stained glass artists with over 30-years of professional experience. Since we are a working art glass studio, we have some of the best tools and equipment available. This same equipment is available to our students to help you achieve your art-glass goals. We keep our class attendance small to provide our students an enjoyable and fulfilling training experience.

 

Safety:

Closed-toed shoes and safety glass are required. Due to some of the chemicals and lead our stained glass classes (only) are not available to pregnant and nursing mothers or children under the age of 18 years old.

 

Stained Glass:

Glass Fusing:

Introduction to Stained Glass

No prior glass experience is necessary
Time/Dates: July 8, 15, 22, 29 and August 5
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Tuesday’s:

 Synopsis:

Introduction to stained glass is scheduled one evening per week for six-weeks. Each class is approximately two hours in duration and will focus on the techniques used in the construction of stained glass using the copper foil method. Students will construct two projects; a sun-catcher and a glass panel approximately 12” x 12”.

Course Fees:

$150.00 which includes:

  • All materials for sun-catcher project

Materials:

Students will be required to provide the following:
Materials for the 12” x 12” project
Tools and consumables which may be purchased at a discounted rate from the studio

 

Glass Fusing-1:

 

Time/Dates: July 6,13,20 and 27 

Tuesday's 7:00-9:00 pm 

 Synopsis:

This four-week class will be held one session per week. The class will be a hands-on curriculum for the beginner glass fusing student. Students will learn the basics of kiln operation, glass properties and fusing cycles.   We will kiln-fire test pieces and design and fire a final fused glass project. 

Course Fees:

$195.00 which includes:

  • Firing schedules
  • Class handout information
  • Glass for test firing

Materials:

Students will provide all materials for the final project. Bring your own glass cutting tools or purchase them at class.

Flat Panel Lamps: 

Prior stained Glass Experience Required

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Wednesday

 

Synopsis:

This four-week session will be held one evening per week. The class will allow students to choose a flat panel lamp design, gain more confidence and improve their skills. Prior stained glass experience is required for this class. 

Course Fees:

$75.00 which includes:

  • Lamp design options
  • Use of studio equipment in class
  • Class handout information

Materials:

Students will be required to provide all materials for their selected projects. Tools and materials may be purchased at the studio at a discounted rate.

 

The Art of Pattern Bars:

Glass Fusing-1 or prior fusing experience is required

 Synopsis:

This three-day workshop will be taught on three consecutive days. The class will be a hands-on curriculum for the intermediate fusing student. Students will learn the techniques in making pattern bars and how to implement them into fused glass designs.  Students will also learn to use diamond glass saws for cutting the pattern bars.

Course Fees:

$250.00 which includes:

  • Glass lay-out
  • Pattern bar mold making
  • Mold use and prep materials
  • Diamond saw use

Materials:

Students will provide all materials for their project. Bring your own glass cutting tools or purchase them at class.

 

Flat Panels and Design

Times/Dates: July 8, 15, 22, and August 5
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Thursday's

 

Synopsis:

Class is scheduled for one evening per week for four weeks. The class is approximately two hours in duration.  Students will make one project during the session.   *Students will expand upon the skills they have learned in the introduction class and learn the techniques of design, lay-out, sizing, and reinforcement of larger glass panels. Due to class space, project sizes will be limited. If you have a large project in mind, please discuss it with the instructor prior to registration. Student’s will be required to provide all materials for the selected project; however all glass, materials and tools can be purchased at discounted prices from the studio.

Glass Fusing Weekend Holiday Ornament Class


Time/Dates: TBD
10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Saturday

 

Synopsis:

This class will be hands-on curriculum for the beginner glass fusing student. Students will learn the basics of kiln operation, glass properties and fusing cycles. We will design and fire a fholiday glass ornaments such as snowflakes, stars, etc.

Course Fees:

$60.00 which includes:

  • Firing schedules
  • Class handout information
  • Glass for three ornaments

Materials:

 

Bring your own glass cutting tools or tools can be purchased at discounted prices from the studio.

Stained Glass Weekend Classes:

Week-end classes will give our students an opportunity to experience in-depth training in several art glass areas in a condensed time frame. Enjoy a wonderful opportunity to take classes in stained, fused, and sandblasted/etched glass. A great idea for groups, spouses, friends or individuals who are interested in learning something new.

Open Studio:
Time/Dates:  Call to schedule time

Synopsis:

Students will have the opportunity to use the studio facilities and equipment for their current projects.  Instructor will be available for assistance.

Course Fees:

Hourly rates:  $15.00 per hour, one hour minimum for studio use.                     $20.00 per hour for use of coldworking equipment.  Experience in coldworking equipment required.

Glass Casting
Time/Dates: TBD

Synopsis:

The focus of this workshop will be to give students a hands on
experience that will allow them to cast solid glass objects on their own. We will cover mold making, kiln firing and glass annealing. We will use clay to create a relief and then make a mold.  Students will fill the molds with glass for a kiln firing. Students will then take their glass castings out of the molds and do minor cold working to finish their pieces. No prior glass working experience is necessary. Class fee includes all materials and kiln firing.
